Returning to Mainstream

We help children and young people overcome learning barriers through personalised mentoring, strategic support, and targeted tuition. Our mentors offer academic guidance and a listening ear, helping learners feel understood and motivated. This approach boosts confidence, engagement, and the skills needed to succeed at school.

How We Support Learners to Return to Mainstream Education

Mentoring and Coaching:

Our learning mentors and tutors bring extensive experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds. Each team member contributes unique life experiences, skills, and perspectives, enriching the support they provide. Mentors form positive, trusting relationships with learners, offering guidance, encouragement, and support to help them overcome barriers and achieve goals. They have experience in education, health, and social care, including supporting young people with SEND and SEMH needs.

Reducing Barriers to Learning:

Many of our team have personal experience of overcoming barriers to learning and are passionate about helping learners do the same. They are committed to breaking down these obstacles and equipping each young person with the strategies, resilience, and confidence they need to succeed. By creating a supportive, inclusive environment and offering tailored guidance, our team empowers learners to recognise their strengths, celebrate progress, and build a positive vision for their future.

Functional Skills Tuition:

For learners returning to mainstream education or looking to strengthen their essential skills, our qualified tutors provide tailored support in functional skills. Each learner receives an individualised approach that builds the confidence and competence needed for employment, further education, and everyday life. Lessons focus not only on English and Maths but also on practical applications, helping learners see how these essential skills can be used in real-world situations and workplace contexts.

GCSE English and Maths Tuition:

Our experienced tutors offer personalised tuition for learners preparing for GCSE English or Maths, ensuring each lesson is tailored to the individual’s strengths and areas for improvement. Through one-to-one support and small group sessions, learners develop both knowledge and confidence, while gaining practical exam techniques and problem-solving skills. This approach ensures that learners are fully prepared for their exams and equipped with a deep, lasting understanding of the subject.

Improving Reading and Comprehension:

At The Grange, our well-stocked library offers books for every interest and reading level. Learners receive guidance to choose materials that suit them personally, while our tutors help develop comprehension skills, teaching them to understand, analyse, and connect with texts. This approach builds confidence, encourages a love of reading, and equips learners with skills they can use in everyday life, education, and beyond.

Network Learning Pathways' Stepping Stones
